Deaths due to Coronavirus infection among Nepali living abroad has come to a halt. According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), in the last eight consecutive weeks Nepalis have lost their lives in different countries. This week, no Nepali lost their life to the Coronavirus.

Here are the facts

According to the Health Committee under the NRNA, Coronavirus infection rates in various parts of the world have dropped significantly since Saturday evening.

Nepalis living in 15 countries including Denmark, Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Myanmar, Poland, Russia, New Zealand, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, France and Belgium have recovered from Coronavirus infection.

In the past week more than 9,000 Nepalis abroad have recovered from Coronavirus infection.

According to the data collected by the Health Committee, 17,792 Nepalis living abroad have been infected with the Coronavirus.

According to Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota, NRNA’s Health Committee Convenor, for the first time this week, three Nepalis living in an African country were found to be infected with the Coronavirus. According to the association, 127 Nepalis abroad have lost their lives due to the Coronavirus infection, while the number of deaths in Nepal has reached 18. So far, 145 Nepalis have lost their lives due to Coronavirus around the world.

According to Sapkota, 23,127 Nepalis have been infected with the Coronavirus in 35 countries around the world, including 5,335 in Nepal.

Coronavirus has killed Nepalis in 13 countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands and Sweden.
