Himalayan Fir Oil | Gobre Salla Oil

Description of the plant:
Gobre Salla or Pine tree is found throughout the East-West Himalayan region of Nepal. At an altitude of 2,800 to 3,900 meters., this evergreen tree grows from 25 to 50 m. tall and 3 to 10 m. in circumference. Pine tree is found in dense forests, especially on the northern slopes of the mountainous region. Its leaves densely cover its the branches. The lower part of the leaf is slightly white. Its ripe fruit (Simta) is brown in color. In Nepal, it is also called ‘Gobresalla’.
Processing Method:
Aromatic oil can be produced from the leaves of Gobre salla through a process of steam distillation in about 5 hours. The amount of oil in the leaves and its chemical components in them are dependent on the geographical source of the leaves.
Properties of Himalayan Fir Oil:
Himalayan Fir oil is light yellow in color. It has pleasant smell, often like the balsamic aroma of a pine tree.
Uses:
Himalayan Fir oil is used to make soaps, perfumes, detergents, disinfectants and room deodorants. Oil is also used in aromatherapy. This oil can also be used in food. Himalayan Fir oil is used in non-alcoholic beverages (1.5ppm), in ice cream (0.62ppm), in candy (5.2ppm) and in baked goods (2.7ppm).

तालिसपत्रको रूख नेपालको पूर्व–पश्चिम हिमाली क्षेत्रमा पाइन्छ। २,८०० देखि ३,९०० मि. को उचाइमा सधैँ हरियो रहने यो रूख २५ देखि ५० मि. सम्म अग्लो र गोलाइ ३ देखि १० मि. सम्म हुन्छ। हिमाली क्षेत्रको खास गरी उत्तरी पाखोमा यो रूखको घना जङ्गल भेटिन्छ। यसका पातले हाँगाको वरिपरि ढपक्क ढाकेको हुन्छ। पातको तल्लो भाग अलि सेतो हुन्छ। यसको पाकेको फल (सिम्टा) खरैो रङको हुन्छ। नेपालमा यसलाई ‘गोब्रेसल्ला’ पनि भनिन्छ।
प्रशोधन विधिः
गोब्रेसल्लाको पातबाट करिब ५ घन्टाको स्टीम डिस्टिलेसन (steam distillation) प्रक्रियाद्वारा सुगन्धित तेल उत्पादन गर्न सकिन्छ। पातमा रहेको तेलको परिमाण र त्यसमा रहेका रसायनहरू पात सङ्कलन गरिने भौगोलिक स्रोतमा निर्भर हुन्छ।
गोब्रेसल्लाको तेलका गुणहरू:
गोब्रेसल्लाको तेल हलुका पहेंलो रङ्गको हुन्छ। तेलको बास्ना आनन्द दिने स्वभावको (pleasant) , प्रायः सल्लाको रूखबाट निस्कने सुगन्धको (balsamic) जस्तो हुन्छ।
उपयोगिताः
तालिसपत्रको तेल साबनु , अत्तर, डिटरजेन्ट (detergent), घरायसी सफाइ गरिने वस्तु (disinfectants, room deodorants) सुगन्धित बनाउने काममा प्रयोग गरिन्छ। औषधिका (aromatherapy) रूपमा तेल प्रयोग गरिन्छ। खाद्य पदार्थमा पनि यो तेल प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ। अमादक पेय पदार्थमा (1.5ppm), आइसक्रिममा (0.62ppm), क्यान्डीमा (5.2ppm) र सेकेर तयार पारिएको उपभोग्य खाद्य वस्तुमा (baked goods, 2.7ppm) यी मात्रामा (प्रयोग गरिने मात्रा कोष्ठभित्र दिइएको छ।) प्रयोग गरिन्छ।
